2nd Australian Space Week

The Andy Thomas Space Foundation proudly presents the 2nd Australian Space Week. Held in July 2024, around the 17th Australian Space Forum, this week will showcase some of the industries best technologies, innovations and educational developments through a range of events, workshops and experiences.

With a number of events already locked in the calendar, the Foundation invites the Australian space ecosystem to join this landmark occasion to best celebrate the great capabilities being developed. As such ATSF welcomes expressions of interest for organisations to participate in the week with their own initiatives.

The Executive Space Course

22nd – 26th July 2024

The Executive Space Course runs over 5 days in Adelaide, featuring a program of presentations, activities, discussions and networking events; a visit to the UniSA Planetarium and entry to the Australian Space Forum on Wednesday 24 July.

The Anatomy of a Space Mission: How All Partners Work Together for Success

While all of us use space every day, most people only think about rocket launches when it comes to space missions, which is a pity because there are so many other parts to a space mission, requiring a diverse range of skills to execute. Join us as we hear from a panel of experts as they discuss how all the segments of a space mission do what they do, so that everyone here on Earth can benefit from what can be done in space.

We are delighted to invite you to the official Adelaide launch of the iLAuNCH Trailblazer Program. Innovative Launch, Automation, Novel Materials, Communication and Hypersonics (iLAuNCH) is a $180 million Depart of Education funded collaborative program between 20+ industry organisations and 3 universities (UniSQ, ANU and UniSA).

The iLAuNCH Trailblazer aims to build Australia’s sovereign space capability by addressing critical gaps and accelerating development of a space manufacturing sector to commercialise R&D. Partnering with industry, our university teams focus on the development of core projects, a dedicated space industry accelerator and upskill the space workforce of tomorrow.

Together with the University of South Australia and out industry partners for our UniSA projects, we welcome you to join us for an informative morning where we can share exciting updates on our current projects over morning tea.

We will be also be unveiling our latest technology at Starke-AMG headquarters with an official ribbon cutting ceremony.

Supported by the Australian Space Agency and the South Australian Space Industry Centre, the Forum provides the perfect opportunity to stimulate ideas, share information about emerging technologies and network with influential space sector leaders and the broader community.

Space Passport Program

Wednesday 24th July & Thursday 25th July 2024

Various Sessions

Secondary school students and teachers are encouraged by the Andy Thomas Space Foundation to attend a 1 hour Space Passport session at the 17th Space Forum being held in Adelaide, South Australia on Wednesday 24th July or Thursday 25th July, 2024 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. These sessions provide the perfect opportunity for students and teachers to learn about current/future careers within the Space Economy and Industry and inspire young people to develop the skills to push forward the frontiers of scientific knowledge.

The Space Passport sessions encourage students to;

  • Talk directly to companies currently involved with the Australian Space Sector
  • Ask companies about current and future careers within their industry
  • Find out about the school and tertiary pathways needed to enter the discussed careers
  • Have their Space Passport stamped by 4 exhibiting companies after discussing careers and pathways then enter details in an online survey at the Hamilton Secondary College – Space School Booth to win a prize
  • Discover out Government School students can register Space Passport Sessions as a ‘My Career Portal’ activity through the SA Department for Education Student Pathways website.
